NEW BEDFORD — Robert Treffle Poulin, 89, of New Bedford, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, at St Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Rita F. (Frechette) Poulin and Theresa L’Etoille.

Born in Maine, a son of the late Treffle and Medora (LeClair) Poulin, he resided in Maine and New Hampshire prior to moving to New Bedford in 1957.

Robert served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a machine operator at Borg-Warner until his retirement in 1988. He was a communicant of the Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, a life member and past Post Commander of the VFW Poirier Post No. 3260, a life member of the American Legion Post 0459, New Bedford, a member of the Lakeville Eagles (FOE), a member of the Association Canada Americaine and a past member of the Seams Squirrel Greater New Bedford Pup Tent 8 (Military Order of the Cootie.) His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, are his son, Richard R. Poulin and his wife, Diane (Bumpus) of New Bedford; a daughter, Pauline Dube and her husband, Richard, of Fairhaven; three brothers, Bertrand, Albert and Normand Poulin; two sisters, Angeline Merrill and Mary Jane Girouard; five grandchildren, Richard Dube, Michelle Poulin, Timothy Dube, Danielle Poulin and Bobbie Haskell; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Joseph, Paul and Victor Poulin, Denise Goulet, Marie Courerie, Rita Rancourt and Helen Poulin.
