Well, here we go again. Good, common sense from a veteran teacher on the problem of disruptive students falls on deaf ears, again (John Neal column, Jan. 20).
The good point of ending compulsory education after the age of 14 is that it would change the philosophy of responsibility. Parents and students would have the responsibility for continuing to remain in the system.
The education system would continue to offer further education to those who want to continue (put emphasis on the word “want”).
Acquiring a high school diploma would remain the goal of remaining in school.
Neal wrote an excellent column about disruptive students.
