PARIS —  Alpha & Omega Ministries Inc. has just completed moving their 24- by 60-foot double wide from its former location at the NPSW transfer station to 527 Park St. The sales space has doubled, there is plenty of parking and access has improved to the Alpha & Omega Thrift Shop or the newly added Furniture Depot.

The ministry has expanded days and hours of operation to better serve the community. They have added a new camping section and expanded their hardware department.

The new Furniture Depot will carry new and gently-used furniture, couches, chairs, tables, beds, dressers, appliances, washers, dryers, televisions, electronics, geriatrics supplies, antiques and much more.

Prices are even lower than before and hours have been expanded. Discount $2 coupons are currently available at the shop or at other business locations.

Alpha & Omega Ministries is a nonprofit, para-church Christian outreach ministry headed up by Bert Rugg, formerly the executive director of His Place Teen Center in Oxford.

The funds raised provide continued support to His Place Teen Center as well as sponsorship to other Christian entities including the Oxford Hills Christian Academy, the University of Maine 4-H Conservation Camp in Bryant Pond and missions around the world.

Alpha & Omega Thrift Shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. While closed Mondays, Bert may be reached at 515-3000 and Janice Davis, volunteer coordinator, at 744-0204.

The ministry is always interested in donations of new items or usable, unbroken, clean, gently-used items.

As part of their recycling efforts they accept old appliances, refrigerators, computers, monitors, TVs and related electronic and household items, bicycles, etc. Call Bert for further details at 515-3000.

Davis, the volunteer coordinator and owner and operator of Kings Hill Inn, is working on a program for teens, young adults and senior citizens to help them feel better about themselves while helping the ministry sort out boxes of items, stock shelves and greet customers. They are looking for those who show they have interest and are qualified to be trained to work at the counter serving customers.

A Free Clothing Trailer event will take place later in the spring. Anyone will be able to pick up clothing that they need and make a donation to help support the ministry.

For those interested in volunteering, “getting acquainted gatherings” will be held the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be Monday, March 11. Refreshments, a tour of the new facilities and volunteer information will be shared.
