BOOK NOOK

In the tradition of old-school nighttime soaps like “Dallas,” “Dynasty” and “Melrose Place,” author Bruce A. Fleming has started a novel series for those who miss the high soapy drama those shows produced. “Milliken Mills: The Nolans” is set on the coast of Maine. The story follows the powerful Nolan Publishing newspaper company. Its founder, Nathan Nolan, started the company when he was just a kid and has grown it into the premiere newspaper business on the eastern seaboard.

Nathan has always believed that his son, Thomas, has acted like a spoiled brat and has never approved of his friends. When the senior Nolan gets wind of a plan that Thomas has set in motion to overthrow Nathan as CEO, Nathan decides it is time to teach his son a lesson once-and-for-all. Things come to a head at the annual Nolan Publishing party when someone ends up dead.

Fleming grew up in the Katahdin area of Maine. The 426-page paperback is available on Amazon.com.
