LEWISTON — Marc R. Morin, 61, of Lewiston passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family, following a long illness.
He was born in Lewiston, on Dec. 22, 1951, the son of Charles R. and Helen J. (Morin) Morin and had been a resident of this community all of his life.
He was educated in Lewiston schools and was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1970. He then attended the University of Maine in Augusta to pursue a degree in music.
He will be most remembered as a talented singer and songwriter, playing with the band Vintage. He performed solo at many weddings in the Lewiston-Auburn communities and did many years of volunteer service on Discovery Weekend and the Maine Cancer Foundation.
Marc enjoyed fishing, was an avid reader, loved nature and being outdoors. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, the former Janet L. (Longtin) Morin, whom he married on Oct. 25, 1975, of Lewiston; his mother, Helen J. Morin of Lewiston; two daughters, Mandy Morin and Rebecca Morin, both of Auburn; a granddaughter, Abbigail Witham of Livermore Falls; two brothers, Paul Morin of Lewiston and Thomas Morin of Auburn; three sisters, Joline Silva and her husband, Gerry, of North Andover, Mass., Anne Lajoie and her husband, Peter, of Lewiston and Monique Mercier and her husband, Michael, of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Joanne Caron of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles Morin; and his brother, Charles C. Morin.
The family wishes to thank the staff of ICU at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care they have given to Marc during his illness.
