1925 – 2013

NORWAY — Mary Harris, 87, of Buckfield, passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Mary was born on Feb. 21, 1925, to Leslie and Helen (Lowell) Perry of Hebron and she graduated from Buckfield High School in 1942. She married Wade Harris Jr. on Sept. 4, 1942, and they worked together raising their four children and in his construction business, including several years of being road commissioner of Buckfield. She lost Wade to cancer on April 10, 1970.

Mary then pursued a college education in English and psychology, but was unable to finish her degree in order to earn an income. She worked at the telephone company in Buckfield for five years, before retiring in 1976. Mary was an avid craftswoman, making many handmade gifts, including afghans, dolls, beadwork and stuffed animals. Her other interests included traveling, reading, doing puzzles, sewing, flower gardening and cooking.

She is survived by her four children, Barbara Warren and husband, Roland, of Buckfield, Richard Harris of Buckfield, Judith Harris of Auburn and Patricia Harris of Hartford; siblings, Theodore Perry of Buckfield, Muriel Record of California and Esther Judd and husband, Stanley, of Hebron; 30 grandchildren; and 57

great-grandchildren; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; and a sister, Flora, of California.
