RUMFORD — Mountain Valley High School Principal Matt Gilbert announced Students of the Semester at a recent schoolwide assembly.

The freshman recipient was Isaac Brennick and he was joined on stage by his parents Sara and Mark Brennick.

The anonymous teacher who nominated him wrote, “Isaac is very personable, is always prepared and is a great class participant and tries very hard in class.”

Nick Billings was chosen from the sophomore class and mother, Sarah O’Leary, met him on stage.

“Nick consistently does his class work and homework on time and it is always excellent quality. Beyond his personal work habits, he is quick to help others in his class and to help his teacher. He is a class leader who also helps other students understand behavior and academic expectations. He is a great kid to have in class,” Gilbert announced from her nomination paper.

Ellie Hall represented the junior class and her parents Janet and Chris Hall congratulated her.

According to her nominating teacher, “Ellie demonstrates outstanding achievement in many of her activities. She maintains high grades, is involved in extra curricular activities and does whatever is asked of her in order to help contribute to the betterment of our school community.”

Finally, senior Josh Rainey rounded out the students honored. His parents, Jeff and Tracy Rainey, joined him on stage.

“Josh works hard to get good grades, is compassionate with peers and is a good role model. He also shoots a great half court shot,” wrote his nominating teacher.

The students received a MVHS T-shirt , a gift certificate for Amatos and a free winter sports pass.

Every nine weeks, teachers at MVHS select a student from each class to honor.
