ROXBURY — A convicted sex offender accused of holding a person against his or her will Friday night on Route 120 in Roxbury was arrested by Maine State Police early Saturday morning.

Stephen V. Heath, 56, of 419 Roxbury Notch Road (Route 120), was being held without bail on a charge of criminal restraint and a probation hold at the Oxford County Jail in Paris, a jail official said Saturday afternoon.

That means Heath cannot be arraigned on the charge until his probation officer files necessary paperwork, the official said.

Calls Saturday to the Maine State Police seeking information about the incident were not returned.

According to the Maine Sex Offender Registry, Heath was convicted April 25, 1990, of sodomy, first degree, in Lane County Court in Springfield, Ore. He was sentenced to 37 months and probation and is a lifetime registrant.
