Their grand-opening weekend will feature their side-splitting, high-tech comedy show AudioBody at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8 and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9.

“We really wanted a name that would grab people’s attention and show our sense of humor,” said Jason Tardy, 33, the older of the two brothers. “There are a lot of great professional theaters in Maine producing plays and music but we want to showcase world-class variety acts that put on good, clean shows that appeal to the entire family.”

“We had a great time helping our mentor with the Oddfellow Theater in Buckfield and when it closed we felt there was a void for those people who enjoyed that kind of programming,” said Matt Tardy. “In a sense, the Freeport Theater of Awesome is a reboot of what the Oddfellow Theater was doing but in a more central location to Maine’s population.”

The Tardy brothers have been touring professionally for 19 years and their AudioBody show has been described as “a modern-day Smothers Brothers meets Blue Man Group.” The show is a synthesis of music, comedy and technology featuring an explosive mix of sibling rivalry, technological mishaps, relentless comedy, full-body contortion, juggling, LED light shows, and upbeat music.

The brothers’ multifaceted training, and 18 years of experience in the performing arts has brought them all over the U.S. and abroad. Some highlights include the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, the Golden Phoenix Casino in Reno, NV and three times at the White House in Washington, DC.
