DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for a business or person who deals in restoration. I have a Royal typewriter from the 1960s that needs some care. — Jennifer Caron, jennifer.r.caron@maine.edu

ANSWER: As you can imagine, this is no longer a widely sought service, but Sun Spots found one possibility online: Coastal Typewriter Services, 690 Augusta Road, Topsham, ME 04086, 725-2145. Perhaps readers will know of others.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am seeking a particular doctor in Lewiston who practices holistic medicine. I believe he was formerly an attorney. I think his first name is Steve, but I am not sure.

I read about him a couple of years ago in the Sun Journal and was quite interested. I never forgot about him and finally I would like to make an appointment with him. Do you think you can find him? Thank you very much. You are appreciated. — Another Sun Spots’ fan

ANSWER: Sun Spots is sorry, but that information is inadequate for a search. Perhaps a friend or colleague of the doctor will recognize the description and let Sun Spots know.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: As a member of the Lewiston High School Class of 1963, I would like to find out if there is a reunion of some sort for our 50th anniversary. Surely, even if there are only a dozen of us, a dinner is possible. Please contact me. — James Roy, Falls Church, Va., jamesroy3d@juno.com, 703-536-3926

ANSWER: Sun Spots feels sure one of your classmates will get in touch.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Can you find out why Dr. Paul Donahue’s picture is shown, but Dr. Keith Roach is answering the questions? Keep up the good work. Thanks. — No Name via email

ANSWER: As readers may know, Dr. Donohue recently retired. However, the templates for the newspaper’s pages are done in advance and still had his picture on them, meaning that someone must replace it. The employee who usually does that page was out ill, and the wrong picture showed up in the paper. It should not happen again.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Why can’t I get my paper over the Internet as early as I can get it delivered?

When I was getting the paper delivered I would get it by 4 am. Now I never get the paper before 5. Here it is 6:30 and no paper.

I am a snow bird and like to keep up with what’s going on in Maine. — Gerry Therrien, Livermore Falls and Avon Park, Fla., gerryt1944@gmail.com

ANSWER: For readers unfamiliar with the website, Gerry is talking about the e-edition. This is a PDF (computer presentation) of the Sun Journal, which allows users to look at the pages as they appear in print. This means Internet readers have access to features such as the comics and crossword puzzle in addition to news and feature stories that appear on the part of the website that is open to the public.

The e-edition is a subscription, but costs less than the paper version ($6.95 for four weeks, with volume discounts available). You can also get the e-edition with your newspaper subscription for just a few pennies more.

As for Gerry’s problem with late delivery, Mike, the Sun Journal’s circulation director, looked into it and found that the company that processes and posts the e-edition was doing so on Central time, rather than Eastern. That should be fixed.

In the unlikely event that there are problems again, Gerry can keep himself busy by reading Sun Spots and other features and stories online. News stories are posted online throughout the day, which is the day preceding their print publication (for example, all day Monday for Tuesday morning).

Any stories that are not immediately posted to the website move to it at midnight, so even Gerry won’t be able to get up early enough to beat them!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Just wondering if anyone could use plastic kitty litter pails. They hold from 25 to 35 pounds. They make great sand buckets for sanding walkways, etc. Please contact me by email if interested. — Laurie, ljh95432@hotmail.com
