Two girls, ages 13 and 12, pleaded guilty in the Lewiston Municipal court, yesterday, to the charge of larceny of $60 from the Bradford-Conant store. They were bound over in the sum of $200 and the personal recognizance of relatives accepted as sureties. Part of the money has been returned. The girls gained admittance to the office by the pretext of using the telephone, one of them extracting the money from a drawer in the unlocked safe. Other cases of a similar nature, one of which was at the Shaw and DeLong grocery and the other at a tailor shop, were reported to the police, yesterday, and the girls will be asked to tell what they know about those cases.

Sam’s Italian Sandwich Shoppe, which has worked out of the same spot on Main Street for nearly 50 years, has applied for a variance that would allow it to add a dining room for customers who want to eat on the premises. The restaurant would expand its take-out restaurant to include a 52-seat dining room. Although Sam’s offers mainly take-out service, it does have a small window counter where customers sometimes eat. According to an official notice of the appeal, Sam’s wants to enlarge its take-out restaurant by using the space next door to create a dining room. The adjoining building at 270 Main St. is the former site of Dorian Antiques.
