FARMINGTON — Titcomb Mountain is hosting a free ski day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3.

The event is made possible through a charitable donation from the Franklin Memorial Hospital medical staff, who wanted to sponsor the day as a way of encouraging youths to be physically active. Families can ski or snowboard on the mountain or explore the cross-country trails.

“In previous ski-free events, we have had a high percentage of youth having their first skiing experience,” said Karleen Andrews, manager of Titcomb Mountain.

Titcomb features 16 alpine trails for all skill levels, including a terrain park for skiers and snowboarders. A great beginner trail with a gentle slope and handle tow is also available. There is a wide array of Nordic trails for both classic and skate skiing, totaling 15.4 kilometers.

A limited supply of equipment rentals will be available from the Northern Lights Rental Shop for $5.
