Public input on health care

LEWISTON/POLAND — The public is invited to attend a community forum on Thursday, March 7, to hear results of the OneMaine Health Assessment for Androscoggin County and to share ideas of how to best improve the health and well-being of residents in the county.

Light refreshments will be served.

Gatherings will be held at two locations and times: Community Concepts, 9 a.m. to noon, 240 Bates St., Lewiston; and at Ricker Memorial Library, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., 1121 Maine St., Poland.

New Auburn Seniors meet again

AUBURN — After a hiatus of two months, the New Auburn Seniors will renew their monthly meetings beginning Wednesday, March 6.

Business meetings are always on the first Wednesday of the month. Dinners are on the third Wednesday of the month. Meetings and dinners are always followed by bingo. Bingo takes place every Wednesday.

Environment film to air

AUBURN — The 30-minute video, “Agenda 21, How Will it Affect You,” will be shown at the the Auburn Public Library on Saturday, March 9, at 10 a.m. A clean environment is something we all want, but this United Nations program has taken a different path. This free program will be shown in the Community Room at the library, next to the Library Cafe.

‘Books beano’at Poland library

POLAND — The third program in a series being presented by the Ricker Memorial Library to celebrate the 50th anniversary year will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the library Community Room, Route 26.

Organizers have planned a fun evening of Books Beano. Names of authors will replace the numbers in each square. Winners will be rewarded. For more information call 998-4390.

Food bank fundraiser

POLAND — A food bank fundraiser with matching grant will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Poland Community Church, 1212 Maine St. The event includes a silent auction, quilt raffle, spring and Easter gifts, children’s games, bakery and homemade candies.

A luncheon will be served at 11:15 a.m. that includes fish chowder, sandwiches and beverages.

Afternoon book club

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library’s Tuesday afternoon book club has announced its next selection, “Ernie’s Ark,” by Monica Wood. The next meeting of the club will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the Library’s Couture Room.

Sabattus Rec Couch To 5K

SABATTUS — The Sabattus Rec Club is holding a Couch To 5K walking/running program at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights, starting April 10, at the Oak Hill Middle School on Ballpark Road.

The weekly sessions will last nine weeks and end June 5, just before the local road races begin, allowing participants time to build up their endurance and enter one or more of the 5Ks if they choose to.

The program is open to any area residents 14 years old and older who wish to try, or get back into, running. Those under 18 require parental permission.

The goal is to build up cardio fitness and stamina. Participants of all abilities will receive exercise tips, running and training suggestions, and helpful nutrition information.
