All the atmosphere and gaiety of New Orleans was recreated at the Lewiston Memorial Armory Saturday evening, when the second annual Rotary Club Mardi Gras attracted a crown of about 500. Costumes were more colorful and unusual than at last year’s ball, and the New Orleans decorative scheme formed an effective setting for them. Attracting much admiration and applause was one group of patrons representing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, as well as a basketball teams, the Collegians, who entered in full costume. One group came in gypsy costume, another was a shah and his harem, and a foursome came as characters from the Wizard of Oz… ..  Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the Scarecrow. Other costume themes included Alice in Wonderland, Dracula, a pair of dice, a bowling ball, “purple people eaters,” early America, and various foreign countries.

Six senior members of the CAP met for the first time Monday night in the trailer, while 12 cadets met in the airport terminal.
