BRUNSWICK — Althea J. Vose of 43 Marc Ave., Topsham, died March 1, at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center.

She was born Sept. 17, 1916, in Gardiner, the daughter of Raymond and Minnie Merrill. She attended schools in Belfast and was a graduate of Crosby High School, Class of 1934. She worked as the manager of cosmetic department of Senter’s Department Store for several years. Upon her retirement, she and her husband owned and operated a grocery store at Tacoma Lakes in Litchfield, moving back to the Brunswick area in 1983.

On Oct. 28, 1934, she married Edward Vose. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years in 1992. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a member of Eastern Star.

She enjoyed their cottage at Tacoma Lakes. In her earlier days, she enjoyed snowmobiling with friends and working outdoors around her residence and visiting old friends.

Mrs. Vose is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Sue Vose of Derry, N.H., and Fred and Saundra Vose of Brunswick; two daughters and son-in-law, Joan and Wallace Staples of Dayton, Texas, and Paula Robbins of Topsham; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
