Felicia Fox and
Benjamin Delcourt
STANDISH — Benjamin Delcourt and Felicia Fox began their love affair while attending a small town high school. Ms. Fox, a year older, set her sights on the sophomore football player and wasn’t too shy to let it be known.
After her graduation, Ms. Fox continued on to attend the University of New Hampshire while Mr. Delcourt finished his senior year of high school. The couple was determined to make it work.
After a semester of traveling home every Thursday from UNH, Ms. Fox made the decision to transfer to the University of New England to finish out the year with a plan to attend the University of Maine Orono with Mr. Delcourt in the fall. As many young couples do, they briefly parted ways. But as fate would have it, the two found each other again.
Together, the high school sweethearts graduated from UMaine in 2011 and soon after settled in their hometown of Standish. While both focused on their respective careers, it was everyone else pushing for an engagement.
What began as a high school crush in fall 2004 ignited into a real life fairy tale on Aug. 18, 2012. The family of Ms. Fox rented a cabin at Katahdin for a long weekend. They all climbed Knife Edge and took several pictures at the summit, 5,268 feet up. The future bride never imagined what was coming when the future bridegroom pulled her aside for a photo by the ledge overlooking Baxter State Park. He got down on one knee and promised her a lifetime of unconditional love.
The couple will be married at Ski Esta on June 14, 2014.
