Sun Journal staff writer Mark LaFlamme had his grammar skills put to the test when he had lunch last week with recent Sun Journal grammar contest winner Judy Lane of North Jay. However, there was little to critique. According to witnesses dining near the couple at the Chuck Wagon in Livermore Falls Tuesday, LaFlamme said only “hello” and “toodle-oo” during the entire lunch, used an unusual amount of sign language (see photo) and preferred to let Lane do the talking. “He seemed like a nice boy. But very very shy,” Lane reportedly remarked to the waitress after LaFlamme left. He had the chicken fingers, she, fish and chips. The couple is planning a trip to Ireland in the near future.
