WATERVILLE — Paulette Aurelie Labrecque Garand, 84, of Winslow, formerly of Lewiston, passed away with her family at her side, Saturday, March 9, at the Oak Grove Living Center, where she had resided for a few short weeks.
She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 3, 1928, daughter of Antonio and Yvonne Rioux Labrecque. She was educated in Lewiston schools and was married Sept. 10, 1949 to Ronaldo Y. Garand.
Paulette was employed at Maine Shoe in Auburn, Hill Mill and the housekeeping department at Marcotte Nursing Home, until her retirement in 1977.
Her family was first and foremost in her life. She could always turn tears into a smile with her understanding and encouraging words. Mom had a wonderful sense of humor and a beautiful smile. She was a fun-loving Mom…
Mom enjoyed spending time with her family, she loved being at the ocean and driving her beloved Ford Escort. She was always busy with her art projects, gardening and was an avid reader. She loved to dance to big band music.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Bickford and husband, Harvey, of Oakland and Dr. Susan Garand and partner, Michelle Morgan, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Shana Garr and husband, Eric, Dr. Travis Dumont and wife, Kate, Hilary Ellingwood and husband, David and Elizabeth Bickford; seven great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Alexis, Bryant, Sophia, Allie, Jakob and Abby; sister-in-law, Juliette Labrecque; nieces, Cathy and Monique; and nephews, Michael and Brian; and special friends, Brenda and Gary Buck.
Paulette was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Ronaldo, who passed on Nov. 10, 2005; and her brother, Marcel Labrecque.
