SABATTUS — One person was arrested and another issued a citation after a chain saw discovered at a local pawn shop led to other missing tools.

Police Chief Anthony Ward said a resident reported a weekend break-in at his tool shed on Monday. A chain saw and other equipment was missing.

A tip from a pawn shop led police to Dalton Farrington, 22, and Heather Henderson, 18, both of Common River Road in Sabattus.

More stolen tools were in their possession, Ward said. They belonged to the original homeowner and two other residents who didn’t realize their garages and sheds had been broken into. All three homes were in the Littlefield Road area.

On Monday, Farrington was arrested and charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of theft and one count of violation of probation.

Henderson was given a summons on three counts of burglary and three counts of theft.

Ward estimated the value of the stolen items at $2,000. He encouraged residents to lock their sheds, garages and cars.

The investigation is ongoing.
