The band is Maine’s only cephalopod-inspired, celtic and maritime folk duo. They will perform Irish-themed songs and stories while the restaurant serves up delightful fare including a special corned beef and cabbage entree, whipped up just for this event.

In an effort to raise money for the GSFB, which distributes food to over 600 pantries and nonprofits in Maine, The Squid Jiggers will hold Danny Boy, The Unicorn and all Seven Old Ladies Stuck in the Lavatory, hostage at this show. They vow not to release (sing) them until the donation jar is full.

“St. Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland and we want to drive hunger out of Maine,” said Bennett, guitarist and singer with the band. “It’s a tall order, we know, but it has to start somewhere.”

In addition to holding certain well-known songs hostage, concert attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations to be entered in raffle contests for delightful prizes. There will be a 50/50 contest benefitting the GSFB, as well.

“Basically, we’ll do anything to beat the $1,500 goal,” said Rowe. “And it’ll be fun, too. This will be more like a party than a concert.”

Tickets for the Sunday, March 17 show are $15, not including dinner. Purchase them at www.squidjiggers.com or call 866-655-7171. Seating is cabaret style. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. DaVinci’s Restaurant is at 150 Mill St.
