NORWAY — Regis Tremblay, documentary filmmaker from Woolwich, will present his film, “Jeju – In the Crosshairs of War” about the Jeju Island in South Korea, at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Fare Share Commons, 443 Main St.

For five years, residents of Gangjeong Village on Jeju have been protesting plans and now construction of one of the largest naval bases in the world.

Jeju islanders suffered deadly persecution following World War II. The island is on UNESCO”s World Heritage List because of its remarkable biodiversity. The proposed naval base serves the U.S. government’s military turn toward Asia. Resistance by Gangjeong people is unrelenting, principled and valiant.

The film is, as yet, an unfinished project and Tremblay needs support to continue.

Refreshments will be served. For more information, call Tom Whitney at 743-2183.
