BANGOR — There’ll be a whole lot of heavy havoc on the Bangor Waterfront this summer, when the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival rolls into town on Wednesday, July 17, bringing with it such metal luminaries as Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Mastodon and Amon Amarth. Tickets for the show at the Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion are $42.50 and $102.25 for VIP, and they go on sale on March 22.

Four stages will be presented on this year’s tour, which also includes bands like Children of Bodom, Machine Head, Behemoth, Job for a Cowboy, Emmure, Born of Osiris, Motionless in White, Butcher Babies, Battlecross, Huntress, Thrown Into Exile and City in the Sea. There will also be a stage for local acts, which will be announced at a later date.

Headliner Rob Zombie is a songwriter, producer, filmmaker and metal icon. He got his start in the popular late 1980s and 1990s band White Zombie, and later became a successful solo artist with his multiplatinum album “Hellbilly Deluxe.” He has directed films such as “The Devil’s Rejects” and the 2007 remake of the horror classic “Halloween.” His new album is called “Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor,” and it comes out April 23.

California heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch played with Godsmack on the Bangor Waterfront in 2010; they are known for their albums, including “War Is the Answer” and “American Capitalist,” both of which went gold. They plan to release a new album this summer. Mastodon are a metal band from Georgia known for their complex guitar work and mix of clean and scream vocals, and have released several critically acclaimed albums, including “Leviathan,” “Blood Mountain” and “The Hunter.” Amon Amarth are a Swedish metal band that takes its name from the Elvish word for Mount Doom in “The Lord of the Rings,” and they sing about Vikings.

Tickets for the July 17 concert go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 22, and are available online at Ticketmaster.com, at waterfrontconcerts.com, charge-by-phone at 800-745-3000 or at the venue box office located at Mark’s Music in Brewer.
