Easter bunny to visit breakfast buffe
MECHANIC FALLS — A buffet breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at the American Legion Post 150. There will be a craft, coloring, word puzzles, guessing game, Easter raffle and photos with the bunny.
NARFE chapter to hear speaker
LEWISTON — Chapter 1804, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the Ramada inn. A social hour will be followed by lunch at noon.
Susan Hendrich, director of volunteers at Central Maine Medical Center, will be the speaker.
Author to speak at college
AUBURN — Maine historian and author Annette Vance Dorey will discuss her book, “Maine Mothers Who Murdered 1875-1925: Doing Time in State Prison,” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Central Maine Community College.
Dorey researched the untold stories of more than 30 mothers and their murder trials from 1875 to 1925. Dorey will speak in the Kirk Hall auditorium. The public is invited.
Girl Scouts to sell cookies
LEWISTON — Girl Scout Troop 729 will have cookie booths at Sam’s on Sabattus Street and Main Street Market Place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23.
Lots to Gardens wins $500 award
LEWISTON — The St. Mary’s Nutrition Center’s Lots to Gardens program was one of 95 winners selected from more than 1,700 applicants to receive an award package from the National Gardening Association and Home Depot.
The award includes a $500 gift certificate to Home Depot and curriculum from the National Gardening Association. Winning programs reflected the importance of health, nutrition and the environment in their garden programming while demonstrating the important role gardens play in the lives of students, teachers and the community.
