LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will offer American Red Cross Lifeguard Training from 9 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, April 15, 16 and 17.

The course teaches students the knowledge and skills essential to prevent, and if necessary, respond to aquatic emergencies appropriately. It includes American Red Cross CPR/AED for professional rescuers and standard first aid.

Participants must be at least 15 years of age and complete a 300-yard swim, timed deep water object removal prerequisite to starting the course and treading water for two minutes without using hands. The prerequisite test will take place on the first day of class.

Members of the YWCA pay $260 for the class and non-members pay $285. Space is limited and registrations need to be in by Wednesday, April 10.
