LEWISTON — Richard “Sliver” A. Turner, 63, of Richard Street, Greene, died Wednesday, March 20, at Central Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with mesothelioma.
He was born in Peekskill, N.Y., March 31, 1949, a son of the late Charles and Gladys (Fyler) Turner. He was educated in New York and graduated from Lakeland High School, Class of 1967. He then went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Navy.
Richard married the love of his life Patricia Anne Dennis on June 15, 1973 and together they started to raise their young family. He worked for 39 years at Bath Iron Works as an electrician.
Richard was a very spiritual man, who found peace in many things, like fly fishing with his good friend Dave. He also enjoyed tying flys, boating, taking vacations with his wife Pat to Wells, Daytona and Michigan.
He leaves his two daughters, Kim Robertson and husband, Joshua, of Wayne and Kelly Freve and her husband, Terry Freve Jr., of Greene; his four grandchildren, Brendan Duguay, Trevor Robertson, Brent and Ashley Freve; his mother-in-law, Doris Webster of Florida; father-in-law, Maurice Dennis of South Paris; brother-in-law, Steve Dennis and wife, Julie, of Ohio; and nieces and nephews, Bradly, Chelsee and Kyle Dennis.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Turner; a brother, Allen Turner; and his stepfather-in-law, Paul Webster.
