DEAR SUN SPOTS: The members of the Minot Junior History Club are researching the life of William Ladd, who lived in Minot, 1814 to 1836. There are 15 children, grades three to seven, in the club. We would welcome your loaning us any information you might have and would certainly enjoy a visit from anyone who would like to share with us.

The club meets from 3 to 5 p.m. on the second Friday of each month at the Minot Consolidated School. — Donna Berry, 346-3106

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am a student at CMCC and need help finding some information or a photo of a very old business: the Coca-Cola bottling plant that was located at 171 Park St. in Lewiston. The address is now being used by the Lewiston Police Department.

I have been to the Coca-Cola plant in Portland, the Lewiston Library, the Lewiston City Hall, the Historical Society and the Chamber of Commerce, and I haven’t found anything on it except that they occupied the building from the early 1940s until they relocated to outer Lisbon Street in the early 1980s.

I have the names of two people who where in charge of the operation in 1942: vice president of manufacturing Albert W. Hughes and John Brewer, vice president of manufacturing in 1949. I’m not sure if these names will help in my quest, but I have to try something — Denniswbisson@cmconnect.cmcc.edu

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for information on the Cole House, which many decades ago was a residence for young women who were unable to stay with their families. I have very little information other than the facility was in Maine, possibly northern Maine, and operated during the 1930s to the 1950s. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. — jeberly885@aol.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: To the person who was searching everywhere for maple leaf cookies (March 15), I stumbled upon them at Reny’s in Topsham. They are $3.99 a box. I myself am a big lover of these wonderful cookies. They are a real treat. A product of Canada, they are made with 100 percent pure maple syrup. Hope this helps to all who love these delicious cookies. Thank you. — Diane Griffin, Sabattus

ANSWER: Several readers wrote to say they knew where those cookies could be purchased locally. Sun Spots may be forced to try them herself; they sound scrumptious.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On C.M.F. looking for maple leaf-shaped flavored cookies and made in Canada. Ocean Jobs Lot in Oxford Maine has them for $2 a box, and they are good. Glad I could help. — Wayne Viger, Turner

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have recently seen the maple leaf cookies at Reny’s in Topsham. You can call before you go to be sure they are still there, 373-9405. — Pat Malcolm, pmalcpoet@yahoo.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On March 15 C.M.F. asked where she could find maple cookies. I buy mine at Trader Joe’s in Portland.

Also someone wanted to know where you can buy crates of eggs. They can be bought at Naples in Mexico or at Shaw’s in Auburn. — Ivy, Jay

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My wife has found those decadently delicious Dare cookies at Hannaford’s and Ocean State Job Lots. Those cookies have a troubling habit of disappearing right after the box gets opened. It sounds like C.M.F. enjoys them as much as we do. — Cedric via email

DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is in response to C.M.F., who was looking for maple cream cookies. In February, I purchased a box of 18 for $3.99 at Reny’s in Topsham. The box states: “Made with 100% Pure Maple Syrup.” They are made by Heart Industries in Ontario. www.heart industries.ca.

I have also purchased these same cookies in Quebec while on vacation in the past. They are the best maple cream cookies you can get. — No Name, Auburn
