LEWISTON — A Dec. 29 surprise party was held for Richard and Constance Baillargeon of Lisbon on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. The event was planned by their children, Ronda and Mike Lecompte and Kim and Steve Hachey and was held at Davinci’s Restaurant in Lewiston. The couple was married at St. Anne’s Church in Lisbon on Dec. 29, 1962.

Mr. Baillargeon served his country as a propeller and rotor mechanic with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany, where their first child, Ronda, was born. Upon returning to the United States, he became a career Lewiston Sun and Journal employee and retired in May 0f 2005 as packaging and distribution manager, after serving the company for 45 years. In his spare time, he participates in the seniors mixed bowling league in Lisbon Falls and enjoys coffee hour with local friends.

Mrs. Baillargeon devoted all of her time and love to the family, managing the responsibilities that come with caring for a husband, home and children. She now fills her time creating beautiful stained glass lamps, a legacy that will remain with friends and family for years to come. The couple has four grandchildren, Logan and Lauren Lecompte and Marc and Adam Hachey and spend countless hours following their sports and school activities and participating in their lives.

An anniversary cake made by Mr. Baillargeon’s brother, Leo Baillargeon, and topped with their parents’ 50th cake top, was served. A digital slide show was featured with pictures of the couple from the past 50 years. The couple received gifts, cards and flowers and celebrated with a weekend getaway at the Samoset Resort and Spa in Rockland.
