A Taylor Pond landowner will ask the Auburn Board of appeals to allow the reconstruction of a cottage he mistakenly demolished last year. The owner had a city permit for renovation of the cottage, not demolition. After constructing a foundation under the building, the owner tore down the cottage leaving only floors and exterior decks. The work was stopped at the site by Senior Planner James McPhee in December. Because zoning ordinances now require the building to be at least 47 feet from the shoreline, the cottage owner was denied permission to rebuild the cottage.
