LOVELL — The Oxford County Regional Communications Center will hold its third annual Communications Training Conference on April 6 at the Lovell Fire Department.

The conference is open to all first responders — fire, law enforcement and EMS personnel — and dispatchers throughout Maine and New Hampshire.

The keynote speaker is Chief John Oates of the East Hartford Fire Department in Connecticut. He will address the group on responding to violent incidents and how departments can prepare themselves to effectively handle a potentially violent situation.

Other speakers include Steven Mallory of the Maine Emergency Management Agency and Chief Darrell Fournier of the Freeport Fire Department. They will speak about communications and response in large-scale incidents and their experiences in assisting with Hurricane Sandy. Oxford County Sheriff Wayne Gallant will present Crime Scene Protocol with a focus on crime-scene preservation techniques for first responders.

The conference will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 6 at the Lovell Fire Department, 3 Hatch Hill Road, Lovell. The conference is free and includes a pot roast dinner with all the “fixin’s,” as well as door prizes from area businesses. For more information or to register for the conference, contact Geff Inman at 207-743-9554 ext. 109 or email [email protected].
