Tony Trischska will be joined by a band that includes Darol Anger, Michael Daves and Jared Engel for this multimedia concert version of filmmaker Marc Fields’ “Give Me the Banjo,” which chronicles the journey of America’s quintessential instrument from its African roots to the 21st century. Trischka is undoubtedly the most influential banjo player in the roots music world. For more than 35 years, his stylings have inspired a whole generation of bluegrass and acoustic musicians.

Thirty-one talented middle and high school music students from throughout Maine who have distinguished themselves in the traditional acoustic music styles of bluegrass, old-time American, Franco-Acadian, and Irish with an additional category for singer/songwriters were selected by audition for a student showcase at the inaugural Maine Acoustic Festival at 4 p.m. prior to the Trischka concert.
