PARIS — There’s a little less sunshine in the world today as our beloved Luba Jillson Barker enters eternal rest with our Heavenly Father on March 26; she’ll be greeted by many family members and countless friends.

Luba fought a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, despite this, she always enjoyed life, family and friends. She was a giver and would do anything for anyone and never had a bad word to say about anyone.

She always found the good in everyone. With her positive attitude and strong will, you’d always find her on the go rather it be cooking, cleaning and gardening. She would welcome one and all into her home day or night.

Luba was born July 8, 1937, in Otisfield, daughter of Edward and Florence (Gustis) Jillson.

Luba was a wonderful person, wife, mother and friend to all. A very hard worker, she retired from Oxford Hills High School, where she worked in the cafeteria. She had various jobs over the years, starting with Beans Restaurant, Avon Lady and Oxford Woolen Mill. She owned and operated Barker’s Boarding Home caring for mentally disabled adults for many years.

She loved to go to yard sales, flea markets and thrift stores to find the deals and never turned down a trip for ice cream. She spent many wonderful years with her husband, Herbert, riding motorcycles and camping all over the U.S. and Canada. They made many trips to Alaska on motorcycles and enjoyed traveling. They spent many years as snow birds in Florida, living in Holiday and Oak Hill.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Herbert Barker; her children’s father, Charles Tice of DeKalb, Texas; her loving sons and spouses, Dana and Kathy Tice of South Paris and Gary and Sandy Tice of Citrus Heights, Calif.; daughter, Faye and Raymond Pinette of Tucson, Ariz.; her loving stepchildren, whom are thought and loved as if they where her own, Jocelyn and Dewayne Heath of Albany, Christine and Rick Libby of Mansfeild, Ohio, Elaine and Terry Wegerer of Leesburg, Texas, Bonnie and Rick Sessions of West Paris, Lisa and Frank Surrette of South Paris, Joel and Yvette of Alaska, and Brent Barker of Lewiston; she has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she loved so very much; her sister, Sonja Ferguson and Don Millett of San Deigo, Calif.; brother, Kirt Heaward and Lisa Lenahan; stepbrothers, Tommy and Linda Heaward of Oxford and Larry and Debbi Heaward of Melbourne, Fla.; stepsisters, Joanne Knightly of Oxford, Gloria and Norm Chicoine of Oxford and Jeanette Netzel of New Hampshire; and her remaining aunt, Shirley Pollis of Anson; Luba has many nieces and nephews, cousins and second cousins and enormous amount of friends.

The mold was broken when God made her, she is loved by so many and will be greatly missed. She has gone to be with her parents; and sisters, Gloria Adams and Janice Lewis; stepbrothers, Kenny Heaward, Billy Heaward and Paul Heaward; along with so many great friends like, Donna and Alvin Gross and Connie Jewell, to name a few.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her care giver of many months, Wendie Clements, who kept her going and was able to help her to enjoy these months. She has been a total God-send for all of us. Thank you to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice service, a special thanks to Tammy Bean and Pam Hertel for their compassion and care that they gave to our Mother.
