LEWISTON — Make-A-Wish Maine will hold a volunteer training from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce office, 415 Lisbon St. Interested parties are encouraged to register by April 1.
Make-A-Wish depends on volunteer “wish granters” statewide to help make magical, memorable wishes come true for Maine children with life-threatening medical conditions. Children provide the inspiration, volunteers provide the passion.
This specially trained group of volunteers comes into direct contact with the wish children and their families, working as a liaison between the family and the staff to fulfill each child’s dream.
To become a wish granter, volunteers must pass a background check and complete an online training sessions prior to the in-person training.
Wish granters work in teams of two and most wish granters complete one or two wishes per year. Creative volunteers in the Lewiston/Auburn area are invited to attend this training.
There is no financial obligation to volunteer for Make-A-Wish, and the rewards are priceless. For more information, to receive an application and to see if wish granting is a good fit for you, contact Eileen Chretien [email protected] or 207-221-2306.
