MONMOUTH — Two people were taken to a Lewiston hospital Friday after vehicles collided on Route 202.
One driver was cited for improper passing following the 7 p.m. crash.
Monmouth police said Roger Sirois, of Winthrop, was driving east on 202 when he tried to drive around a car that had slowed to make a left turn onto Route 132.
As Sirois was driving around that vehicle, police said, his Toyota Echo broadsided a Ford Explorer driven by Catherine Dolan-Hoffman of Readfield.
Dolan-Hoffman was headed west on Route 202 and was attempting to turn onto Route 132 when her vehicle was struck.
Sirois was summoned to court for improper passing.
Police said both drivers were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where they were treated for cuts and bruises. Both were expected to be released from the hospital Friday night.
