NORWAY – Former Selectman Bruce Cook has taken out nomination papers for a seat on the Board of Selectmen.

The annual town election is June 11.

Cook, who served on the board from 2007 to 2010, is seeking one of two available seats currently held by Irene Millett and Michael Twitchell. Twitchell has also taken out nomination papers for one of the seats. Millett has not indicated whether she seeks to run for re-election.

Cook lost his seat in 2010 to Twitchell, then a political newcomer. He faced opposition for one of two seats from Millett, who won re-election, and Wesley Wentworth, a former library trustee and member of the Budget Committee, and Twitchell. Cook is also a member of the Planning Board an an officer on the Norway Opera House Corporation.

In the other election news, SAD 17 Director Donald Ware has taken out papers for re-election to the school board.

Doris Ray and incumbent Tom Curtis have taken out papers for a seat on the Norway Memorial Library Board of Trustees. Trustees Hiliary Ware and Karen Austin are also up for re-election.

Town Clerk Shirley Boyce said nomination papers are due April 29.
