DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is regarding the March 26 question asking when and where barbershop groups will give concerts.

There is an annual concert of a cappella singers known as Joining Voices. Sometimes these singers perform barbershop-style music. This year’s Joining Voices concert will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the auditorium at Hebron Academy.

Admission is by voluntary donation to the Good Shepherd Food-Bank. Six a cappella groups from area high schools and colleges will perform this year. Always a good time. We would love to see you there. — Richard Rau, richard.rau@dfdrussell.org

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the reader who recently requested information about barbershop performances, on April 7 a benefit performance for WYAR-88.3 entitled “Music In The Air” will be presented at the Yarmouth High School at 3 p.m. Performing will be the Royal River Chorus of Sweet Adelines International. Three male quartets from the Downeasters Chorus, Professional Master banjoist Peter Nezoin and the Greater Freeport Community Chorus will perform.

Also, on May 4 the Downeaster Chorus will present its annual show at 7 p.m. at the Yarmouth High School Performing Arts Center, also featuring their three quartets: Exchange Street, Back Bay Four and Port City Sound.

Hope this helps. — Arnold Jordan, chorus member, via email

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On March 14 around 3 p.m. I went to do my weekly shopping at Shaw’s; my grocery bill was $46.72. The cashier told me that the young man in front of me had paid for my groceries.

I did not know him. I thanked him so much with tears in my eyes. I told him I would write to Sun Spots that there are still good people out there. Thank you again to the good gentleman for making my day. — Ida, Lewiston
