LEWISTON — Daniel Fortier, a senior at Lewiston High School, has been selected to receive the 2013 Principal’s Award, Principal Gus LeBlanc announced. Daniel is the son of Pauline and Bernie Fortier of Lewiston.

The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given to an outstanding senior student in recognition of academic achievement and citizenship.

“Daniel will graduate as valedictorian of the class of 2013 and has distinguished himself as an outstanding student, school citizen and athlete and is very deserving of this recognition,” noted LeBlanc in announcing the award.

Daniel and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon Saturday, April 6, at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.

The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler, who were former Maine principals and executive directors of the association.
