FARMINGTON — Dorothy M. Chenard, 82, formerly of Raymond Street, Rumford, passed away Wednesday, April 3, at Sandy River Nursing Care Center, following a long illness with family at her side.
She was born in Mexico, June 16, 1930, a daughter of Charles N. and Delima M. (Gallant) Brown. Dorothy was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1947.
She married Ernest “Chendy” Chenard in October 1949, together they celebrated 49 years of marriage; he passed away in 1998. She was employed for several years as a sales clerk at Sears Roebuck. Dorothy was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. She enjoyed bowling, reading, gardening, fishing and her trips to Las Vegas.
Surviving are her children, Catherine M. Briggette of Farmington, Carol A. Tremblay of Cape Elizabeth, Jacqueline E. Arsenault of New Portland and Gregory J. Chenard and wife, Reinette, of South Rumford; a sister, Barbara DeSalle of Florida; and seven grandchildren, Lindy, Monica, Kristen, Mario, Maria, Elizabeth and Jay.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ernest; daughter, Elizabeth Chenard; two sons, Christian and William Chenard; brothers, Harold, Richard, Kenneth and William; and a sister, Vivian Roberts.
