LEWISTON — On Friday, April 5, a dozen Project Reach students from Lewiston Middle School along with nearly 130 enthusiastic eighth graders in the Jobs For Maine Graduates program will scour the streets of Portland in search of scavenger hunt treasures while taking part in the competitive, educational activity known as Urban Adventure.
The event is sponsored by Unum, where kids from all JMG branches in Maine will team up and compete to find objects including job applications, business cards from DJs, the Casco Bay Ferry schedule, bank account applications and all kinds of fun items throughout the streets of the Old Port.
LMS students will also be taking a thorough tour of the Portland Police Station learning about the different departments like the criminal investigation division and the job responsibilities of a detective and a evidence technician. JMG students will then participate in workshops after the hunt where they will do various activities such as mock job interviews and professional dress in the workplace.
