LEWISTON — Lyceum Gallery will exhibit “The Fantasy of Nature by Roderick Dew” from April 12 through June 7. The public is invited to the opening reception from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 12.

These incredibly intricate, limited-edition prints draw you into their detailed interpretations of Dew’s imagination. “The Secret Garden” is a complex triptych of muted gold, purple and orange that looks like Alice’s walk through Wonderland. “Medusae” appears as an elegant jellyfish floating gracefully through the air. The jewel tones of ”

” pop against a black background.

“The study of nature, its forms and underlying dynamics of structure, both physical and mathematical, inform my work,” explained Dew. “I closely study the natural world, but choose not to copy it. The study becomes the foundation for the creation of my own nature.”

Dew, an Auburn resident, received a BFA in Jewelry and Silversmithing from the Portland School of Art (now MECA) and an MFA in Studio Arts from the Maine College of Art. His works are in numerous collections in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Lyceum Gallery is at 49 Lisbon Street. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, or by appointment. For more information, visit www.lyceumgallery.com, email lyceumgallery@me.com, or call 207-576-4805.
