1991 – 2013
AUGUSTA — Patrick William Culleton, 21, of Manchester, and San Angelo, Texas, was killed instantly in an automobile accident on Tuesday, the 2nd of April.
Patrick was born in Eureka, Calif., on the 10th of May, 1991, to Kevin and Brenda Culleton, the fourth of five children.
Patrick graduated from Central High School in San Angelo, Texas, in 2009, shortly before joining the United States Marine Corps as a communications specialist. He served honorably and separated on Dec. 23, 2012. Serving in the Marines was Patrick’s largest and most lasting commitment. At the time of his death, Patrick worked as a security guard for Central Maine Power of Augusta.
Patrick enjoyed exercise, strategic first-person computer games, and just hanging out with his many friends and family members. As the son of an Air Force master sergeant and as a Marine deployed to the Middle East, Patrick made true friends from all over the world. His infectious personality and loving nature ensure they will mourn him along with his family.
Patrick was driving too fast and neglected to wear his seat belt. However, Patrick’s final act was a choice between going off the road and into a tree or hitting the car in front of him. He chose to risk and lose his own life rather than inflicting pain on a stranger. This final decision was made in an instant and is a tribute to his gentle and caring nature.
He is survived by his father and mother, Kevin and Brenda Culleton of San Angelo, Texas; his sister, Katrina Becker of Maricopa, Ariz.; his brother, Kyle Culleton of San Angelo, Texas; his younger sister, Shiloh Davison of Anchorage, Ala.; his paternal grandmother, Irene Culleton of Auburn; his maternal grandparents, Don and Mary Hamlyn of Manchester; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends.
Patrick was predeceased by his grandfather, Roger Culleton of Auburn; and his brother, Adam Culleton.
