Quilters to meet April 11

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street.

To take part in the fabric swap, bring approximately 30 6.5-inch squares of red, white or blue, or a combination of those colors, cut from 100 percent cotton fabric that has been washed and dryer dried. These colors will be helpful for making veterans’ quilts.

The group is also looking for “jelly roll” (2.5-inch strips) ideas from members. Donations are accepted for the group’s various projects.

Ashworth Fund established

RUMFORD — The GRCC Ronald Ashworth Memorial Fund has been established. The fund is tasked with supporting the development of innovative youth programs that seek to develop creative, intellectual, physical and emotional skills and abilities in the young people who live in the Greater Rumford Community.

Anyone wishing to support the effort can send a contribution to “GRCC Ron Ashworth Memorial Fund” in care of Kaynor & Kreckel, 95 Congress St., Rumford, ME 04276. A direct focus of the fund will be the Greater Rumford Community Center.

Chicken pies at Methodist chapel

RUMFORD — On Saturday, April 20, there will be a chicken pie supper at the Rumford United Methodist Church Chapel on Linnell Street. There will be one serving starting at 5 p.m. and the cost is $9 per person. The meal was originally scheduled for April 13.

The meal will consist of chicken pie, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, peas and carrots, cole slaw, rolls and cream puff with chocolate sauce. There will also be hot and cold beverages.

Webb River Sportsman’s Club

DIXFIELD — Webb River Sportsman’s Club will hold their monthly supper and meeting on April 15 at the clubhouse on the Canton Point Road. Supper will be at 6:30, followed by the meeting at 7.

Stephens High Class of 1950

MEXICO — The Stephens High School Class of 1950 is invited to meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, at the Mexico Chicken Coop.

Sons of Italy officers, potluck

RUMFORD — The Gorizia Lodge 467 of the Sons of Italy will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, April 15, at the hall in Smithcrossing.

Installation of Officers for 2013-15 will also be conducted. A potluck dinner will follow meeting/installation and all members are asked to bring a dish to share.
