RUMFORD — An evening of dinner and entertainment presented by the Rumford Association for the Advancement of the Performing Arts will return to the River Valley for two exciting nights at 5 p.m. Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 at the Eagles Hall.

The first play to be performed is “The Committee Meeting,” an all-female play where a pot-luck dinner is being planned. The actors are veteran performers Martha Hanington, Mary Hickey, Debbie Moon and Anita Murphy, plus newcomers Diane Gallant and Arita Zitoli. The women devise all kinds of excuses which will make it impossible for them to be in charge of anything.

The second play is entitled “Making a Move” and features Jim Robertson and Connie Venskus who disagree on whether they should move to a retirement community. Trying to convince them the move would be a good idea are their concerned daughter and health-enthusiast neighbor, played by Jennifer Frost and Steve Borstelmann. Watch how this friendly family discussion turns into a hilarious clash of forceful personalities.

The RAAPA Chorus will perform a selection of tunes based on a theme of colors in song including “Yellow Bird,” “The Rose,” “Be’in Green” and “Over the Rainbow.”

Closing the evening will be the third one-act play called “Forget Me Not” which features the visit of a church lady (Nancy Demings) whose aim is to invite the wife (Gail Parent) to join a book club, but ends up finding fault with everything the husband (Al Hanington) does.

Tickets are $30 each which includes a full buffet dinner, hors d’oeuvres, dessert, beverage, tax and tip. While you dine, the RAAPA players will perform three one-act comedies and the RAAPA chorus will sing a selection of colorful songs. It is an evening of entertainment with an all-inclusive price.

Tickets can be ordered by calling 207-369-0205. The last day to purchase tickets is April 22; however, in the past both shows have sold out before the deadline date.
