AUBURN — Pauline A. Ouellette, 87, of Clover Manor and formerly of 174 Stevens Mills Road, Auburn, died Sunday, April 7, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice with her family by her side.

Born in Lowell, Mass. Sept. 30, 1925, a daughter of the late Arthur and Amanda Laferriere Lemay, she graduated from Edward Little High School in the Class of 1943. She was married to Ernest Ouellette, who died in 1997.

Pauline was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at Sacred Heart Church.

She was a devoted mother and homemaker to her three daughters.

In 1950, she was diagnosed with polio and spent nine months rehabilitating at the Hyde Home in Bath. In 1955, she was awarded the March of Dimes Mother of the Year Award for the state of Maine. Additionally, she was later nominated for and received a certificate of Lifetime Achievement Award from Clover Manor in 2005.

She enjoyed baking, camping, family backyard gatherings and attending her daughters’ various activities while they were growing up.

She will be remembered for her strong will, undying determination to maintain her independence and a dedication and love for her family and friends like none other.

She is survived by her three daughters, Faye Bristol and husband, Jared, of Hebron, Sheila Gould and husband, Gary, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Gail Barber and husband, Edward, of Zionsville, Ind.; stepson, Gerard Ouellette and wife, Charlene, of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Lianne (Bristol) Pritchard, Ian and Jared Bristol, Todd Gould, Krista (Gould) Sagraves, Scott and Christopher Barber;19 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Jane Hamel and her husband, Roland, Rita Dube and Theresa Forgues; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Roland J. Lemay.

The family would like to thank Marc Croteau, her dear friend and her visiting angel, the entire staff of Clover Healthcare, particularly Vicki Black, LPN, and Laurette Gosselin, who kept her beautiful every week. To the amazing team at the Hospice House, a sincere thank-you for the care and support in her final hours.
