Meatloaf supper is April 19

NORWAY — Second Congregational Church will host its free supper from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 19. On the menu is meatloaf, mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls and desserts by Bruce.

This month marks the second anniversary of free suppers held at the church. Started by Deb Ladner and Bruce and Pam Davison as a way to reach out to those in the community, the suppers have been well supported by the church and community as a place where friends get together each month to catch up and visit while also enjoying a delicious home-cooked meal.

Lions start Disaster Fund

HARRISON — There has been a series of disasters in Harrison and the Harrison Lions would like to help those and other residents who find themselves in need because of a disaster. They are going to set up the Harrison Disaster Relief Fund.

On Saturday, April 20, the Lions will hold a public spaghetti supper fund raiser for the fund from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lions Den, at the rear of Block Building. The cost is adults $10 and children under 12 $5. Tickets are available at the Village Tie-Up, Market Basket and from Lion Club members. They will also be available the night of the supper at the door.

All proceeds from the event will go towards the establishment of the relief fund.

CPR, first aid class offered

OXFORD — An American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and First Aid Class will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Oxford Public Safety Building.

A certificate good for two years will be issued on completion of the one-day class.

This certificate course is accepted for day/child care providers, loggers, guides, teachers and any other non-healthcare related professions.

Future scheduled classes will be May 4 and June 8. Call to confirm dates. Groups may also request to schedule a class at their convenience. Healthcare BLC CPR re-certifications are done as needed.

Finnish-American Society meeting

PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will meet at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 20, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.

The first meeting of 2013 will begin with a membership potluck dinner followed by the annual meeting and election of officers.

Chinese auction for pet shelter

PARIS — A Chinese auction to benefit Responsible Pet Care will be held Saturday, April 20, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

Bidding will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with winners drawn at 6:30. Tickets $5, $10 and $20, and also bonus tickets. More than 300 great items. Food and refreshments available.

World’s Fair final supper

WATERFORD — The last supper for the winter for the Waterford World’s Fair will be held starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the North Waterford Congregational Church on Route 35 across from Melby’s Market.

This one will be Dana’s special baked stuffed haddock with potato, two vegetables, bread, drink and a piece of homemade pie or a brownie with ice cream all for $8 for adults and $4 for children. There will also be a 50/50 chance.

Longaberger, pottery bingo

LOCKE MILLS — The Nezinscot Valley PTO will hold a Longaberger basket and pottery bingo on Sunday, April 21, at the American Legion Hall, Gore Road.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Lunch items will be available. Games will begin at 12:30 p.m.

The cost for 16 games is $10. Additional games are $5. Raffle tickets are $1, six for $5 or 20 for $10.

Proceeds benefit Hartford, Sumner and Buckfield pre-K through grade 12 children and staff.
