The National Committee for Quality Assurance and the American Diabetes Association recently announced that seven clinicians from DFD Russell Medical Centers in Leeds, Turner and Monmouth received recognition from the Diabetes Recognition Program for providing quality care to their patients with diabetes.

Diane Handler, PA-C, Kevin Cowell, DO, medical director, Shannon Deschenes, DO, William Flewelling, FNP, Kristen Mitchell, DO, Maxwell Barus, MD, and Laurie-Ann Huntress, MD, all received the distinguished recognition.

To receive the recognition, DFD’s clinicians submitted data that demonstrated their performance in meeting the program’s key diabetes care measures. These measures include eye exams, blood pressure tests, nutrition therapy and patient satisfaction.

This is not the first recognition DFD Russell has received for its commitment to quality care. DFD is NCQA recognized as a Patient-Centered Medical Home and was recently ranked as the No. 1 community health center in Maine and the nation.

DFD is currently accepting new patients from its service area at the Leeds and Turner locations. For more information about DFD Russell Medical Centers, visit: www.dfdrussell.org.
