LEWISTON — Hollis C. Winslow, 87, formerly of Sabattus, passed away on Sunday, April 7, at the Marshwood Center with his family at his side.

He was born Nov. 20, 1925, the son of the late Ralph Leon Winslow Sr. and Mildred (Ashton) Winslow in Sabattus. After attending local schools, he worked as a automobile mechanic in the area including Park Motor Mart and Rowe VW. Hollis then went to work at Bates College in the maintenance department for 18 years before retiring in 1997.

On Dec. 31, 1955, he married the love of his life, Janice Rose Lambert and they made their home in Sabattus, where they raised their family. Janice passed away in 2007. Hollis was very proud of his service as a volunteer firemen in Sabattus. For a period of time, he served as the assistant chief. He also served as a Constable for the town of Sabattus. Hollis had many interests including hunting, camping at Cathedral Pines in Eustis, blueberry picking, ice fishing, snowmobiling, riding his bicycle in town, bowling and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on.

He was a proud man who loved the time shared with his family and dear friends. He especially loved spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Hollis is survived by five children, Jerry L. Winslow Sr. and wife, Kelly, of Monmouth, Lorna L. Winslow and companion, Wayne Labbe, of Topsham, Holly W. Dostie and husband, Jules Jr., of Mechanic Falls, Shawn A. Winslow of Sabattus and Stacy T. Dostie of Sabattus and her companion, Craig Martin, of Yarmouth; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and two more on the way; one sister, Alma Fisher; and sister-in-law, Yvonne Winslow.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Janice Rose (Lambert) Winslow; his brother, Ralph Leon Winslow Jr.; and his granddaughter, Kelly E. Winslow.

The family would like to thank The Meadows Senior Living Center in Greene, Sabattus Residential Care in Sabattus and the Marshwood Center staff for the loving care given to Hollis in his final weeks.
