TEMPLE — Jerry L. Barker, 77, of Temple, passed away at his home Monday, April 8.
He was born in Temple in 1936, the son of Earle and Olive Barker. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1964. He worked for many different companies driving tractor trailers cross country.
In 2000, he met Linda, and they have been married ever since. He was a member of the Temple Trail Riders ATV Club and a life-member of the VFW. Jerry was a jack-of-all-trades and master of none who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and his dogs, Mitzy and Patches. He also had a good time with his nephews and enjoyed playing cards and having a beer.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Deborah Loving and husband, Joey, of Virginia, and Shirley York and husband, Ron, of Jay; two sons, Raymond Barker and his wife, Sherry, of Virginia, and Rodney Barker and his wife, Pam, of Wilton; two stepsons, Matthew and Dennis Weeks; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandsons; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Brackett of Farmington, Connie Tibbets of Wilton and Maxine Brenna of South Dakota; and his brother, Randall Barnes of Texas.
Jerry was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra; his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Richard.
