WALTHAM, Mass. — Marjorie E. (Daley) deMariano, 93, of Brighton, Mass., our dearly beloved Irish songbird, will sing no more. Always with a quick smile, a soft word and maybe a little dance, she was loved by all who knew her and will live forever in our hearts. She passed on April 8, at the Meadow Green Skilled Nursing Home.

Marjorie was born July 8, 1919, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of the late Jeremiah T. and Mary Ellen (Wholley) Daley. She was united in marriage to Edward P. DeMariano of Cambridge, Mass., June 14, 1942. They were married for 47 wonderful years. Edward predeceased her on May 12, 1990.

Marjorie lived most of her life in the Brighton and Newton areas and vacationed in Norton, Mass., Mt. Vernon in Maine and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She was a longtime active parishioner and choir member at Our Lady of the Presentation Church Brighton. Mom never lacked for a good story well told and sometimes acted out. She had a green thumb and she tended her gardens with great pride, as they were always picturesque and robust. Mom loved all animals both tame and wild. She could not walk or drive by one without stopping to speak with him or her.

Marjorie was the loving mother of Paul D. of Ellenton, Fla., Mark A. of Bradenton, Fla., Elaine P. Smerlas of Waltham, Mass., and the late Neil E. of Brighton, Mass; she was the beloved grandmother of Aimee C. Cogan, Alexandra G. DeMariano, both of Florida, Megan and Russ deMariano and Peter E. and Marjorie K. Smerlas, all of Massachusetts; the great-grandmother of Caragh Bella, Jordana, Jacob and Jaden, all of Florida; and many nieces and nephews, all whom called her “Auntie Babe.”

Marjorie was predeceased by her three brothers, Alfred, Joseph and John Daley, all of Brighton, Mass.
