LIVERMORE — Four of seven properties foreclosed in March for unpaid 2011 taxes have been redeemed, Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub said Thursday.
Voters at a town meeting several years ago gave property owners an additional 30 days from the day of foreclosure to pay the taxes, interest and fees on those properties.
This year it is a little more time due to the deadline falling on Saturday and a holiday on Monday, April 15, when the Town Office will be closed for Patriot’s Day.
Schaub anticipated two of the remaining three properties would be paid in full prior to the Tuesday, April 16, deadline based on a conversation he had Wednesday with owners, he said. A couple of individuals own two properties.
Selectpersons signed quitclaim deeds for four of the properties Monday night, Schaub said.
In late February, 25 properties were in danger of being foreclosed, for a total of $24,000 in unpaid back taxes.
The second tax-bill payment for the current year also is due Tuesday, Schaub said.
