LISBON FALLS — Walter and Blanche Parker of Lisbon Falls celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at a gathering in Bowdoin. The event was planned by Alex and Carolyn Norzow, daughter of the couple.

The son of the couple, Richard Parker, sang to them with Elvis Presley songs and a few hymns. Ron Parker, nephew, recited a prayer.

Mr. Parker and the former Blanche Bourgoin were married March 23, 1943 at the Parker home in Durham. Their children are Nancy Bouchard, Carolyn Norzow, Glenice Green and Richard Parker. Their grandchildren are Tammy Fortin, Nancy Greindl, Julie Fortin, Mike Chizmar, Joseph Chizmar, Dana Parker, Matthew Parker, Marie Parker, Adam Parker and Krista Delvalle. They also have 10 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Parker is a 1940 graduate of Lisbon High School as class salutatorian and attended Bliss Business College. She worked at U.S. Gypsum for 25 years and then at L.L. Bean from 1979 to 1984. She also taught oil painting from her home.

Mr. Parker served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He operated a shoe repair shop in Lisbon Falls from 1945-1952. He worked as a cloth inspector at the Worumbo Mill, J.P. Stevens and Lisbon mills until retirement in 1985. Both are members of the Shiloh Church in Durham.

Original wedding attendants present were Alice Tupper, sister of Mrs. Parker and Gerry Parker, sister-in-law of Mr. Parker.
